We returned today from our trip to visit April, Richard and Luke #1 in KC. We had such a great time. The parents got to get away for a day in Lawrence and watch KU beat Nebraska while the Lukes experienced their first non-family babysitter. They both did fabulously and the moms kept their cool - for the most part! The rest of the weekend we spent watching the boys wreak havoc around the house. Here they are "racing" up the stairs. Luke W. won every time because Luke G. kept stopping to wave at the audience. Not sure what to think about that!

Luke's New Ride
Here's Luke rollin' in his new ride - a double seat wagon that he got for his bday from G&P Russell. He looks pretty comfy. It even has 4 cup holders, which Dad is excited to put his beer in this summer.
We are also excited to announce that Luke has started taking steps independently. G&P worked diligently with him while they were visiting and we have continued practicing every day. Today he even took some steps without our encouragement. We are off to KC this weekend but we promise a video next week when we return!

ANOTHER Birthday Party

Luke's First Birthday
While slightly intimidated by his first birthday cake, Luke slowly began to take it apart before Mom and Dad joined in to help. As you can see from the last picture, Luke made out pretty well on his first birthday. He received some new clothes, a big dump truck, some architecture blocks, and many, many other toys. Luke thanks everyone for making his birthday so memorable (even though he won't remember it). On to birthday party #2 tomorrow at Chase's house...

Happy Birthday Great-Grandma!
Happy Birthday Great-Grandma Vivian! She turned 91(!) today, and Luke really enjoyed celebrating with her at Aunt Karen's place.
Luke also had his one year appointment this morning, and he weighed in at 25.4 lbs and is 2' 8'' tall. The doctor also told us that he has 2 molars coming in, which explains the recent fussiness. All in all, though, he's handling it really well.
He turns 1 on Saturday! We can hardly believe it.

Pre-Super Bowl
Aunt Kimberly stopped by this morning to spend time with Luke before the Super Bowl starts. She surprised Luke with some of his first birthday gifts, one of which he is wearing in the following pictures. She had 5 shirts made for him with old school rap lyrics on them. "To G or Not to G?", courtesy of Ice Cube of course...
